Laura Verdugo del Rey is an international concert performer and guitar teacher, holding a degree from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid and a Master’s in Guitar from the Hogeschool Zuyd Conservatory in Maastricht (Netherlands). Born in Toledo, she began her musical studies at the age of eight at the Municipal School of Music of Santa Cruz de la Zarza, continuing her training at the Alcázar de San Juan–Campo de Criptana Professional Conservatory of Music, where she obtained an Honors Degree and the Extraordinary Middle Grade Award. She subsequently completed her higher education at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid under the direction of Professor Demetrio Ballesteros, achieving the highest grades.

Her artistic career has led her to offer concerts and masterclasses in major auditoriums in Spain and in countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, Iceland, Belgium, Germany, Greece, the United States, and various Latin American countries. She has performed as a soloist with ensembles such as the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra, the Honduras Symphony Orchestra, the St. Cecilia Orchestra of Simpelveld, the S. Petrus Orchestra of Maastricht, and the Nova Camera Orchestra of Madrid, among others. She has also participated as a jury member in prestigious international guitar competitions.

She has made recordings for the television production company Globo Media and has been part of various chamber groups, currently being a member of the **Ensemble Lilith**. Her commitment to contemporary creation is reflected in the works dedicated to her by composers such as Tomás Marco, David del Puerto, and Juan Erena.

Her accolades include the First Prize at the Los Angeles Classical Music Awards, the Ciudad de Arriondas Festival Award, and the Ciudad de Valladolid Guitar Award, in addition to being a finalist and semi-finalist in relevant international competitions such as the José Tomás International Competition (Petrer), the Admira International Competition (Zarautz), and the Koblenz International Festival (Germany).

She has been a recipient of the prestigious NUFFIC scholarship from the Government of the Netherlands for Master’s studies, as well as the special José Ramírez scholarship from A.I.E., and was selected as a concert performer in the INJUVE music circuits.

Also committed to cultural management and musical dissemination, she holds a Master’s in Direction and Management of Cultural Industries from the European University Miguel de Cervantes. She served as artistic director of the Andrés Segovia International Festival for two years and is currently the director and founder of the Madrid International Guitar Festival and the International Music School. She is also part of the Anaura Guitar Duo alongside the guitarrist Anabel Montesinos.

Parallel to her concert activity, she carries out intensive pedagogical work as a professor at the Forum Musikae Higher School of Music, combining performance, teaching, and cultural projects with a clear international vocation.

Laura Verdugo del Rey has published several guitar transcriptions of Domenico Scarlatti sonatas for Bergmann Edition.

Laura is a Savarez artist, part of the Strömmar platform, and performs on a guitar built by luthier Steve Connor.
